Schluchtern (Germany) | 22 may 2010
Last weekend I went to the annual meeting of the German Enduro Senioren in Schluchteren.
This is a 2 day event, but I could only stay one day.
In contrast with Borna, we had a nice sunny weather in Schluchteren.
I rode my 1969 Penton and had to do 12 laps.
Bruno Bierschenk the "Fahrleiter" was very inventive in using the available space around and over the MX track and made us a real enduro route by using also the surrounding wood.
I started with Chris Van Homoet who rode his 1968 Rond Sachs 50cc and we stayed together for the 12 laps.
I have to admit that Chris was very fast on his little bike and I had to "gaaz" up my Penton to stay with Chris.
After a break we had to do 1 special test, I went full throttle over the big jump (sorry Penton) and was "only" 2 seconds faster than Chris.
Friedrich Hieronymus, former Zundapp factory rider who rode a 200cc 1955 DKW was even faster with 6 seconds.
Fast Freddie on his Bultaco Matador made some nice holes in his T-shirt, when he was trying to drift in speedway style over the track.
Our American friend Harry " Harcules" spend the whole day tuning his 350 Hercules, hope he can make his bike work before the next event
In the evening there was a birthday party for Hans Theis and Hans Lippl, but at that time I was already driving my old Renault van back home again.
